An extensive extended cruise circling the Australian Coast is being halted days after the death of an elderly woman who was stranded by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a pause. The liner left without her and returned later that day after the crew realised the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive rescue mission found her person the next day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, together with police and the official investigator.

Head of the cruise operator said that guests and personnel on the vessel were notified that the rest of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he further stated that guests would be given a full refund, and said the company was working "to coordinate the homeward trips of the travelers via chartered flights".

Regulatory bodies also issued an revised announcement, and said they had "delivered a notice to the Master" banning any further travelers from getting on the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the ship in Cairns upon its arrival.

Timeline of Events

The ship initially left the Australian port on October 24th, and was just two days into the journey at the point of the 80-year-old's death. The tropical location was the first stop on the itinerary.

Passengers on the vessel - who generally pay tens of thousands of currency to join the expedition - were transported there for a daily excursion with the option of walking or underwater exploration.

Relatives Reaction

The daughter of the victim said that her family was "stunned and distressed that the liner left the location after an planned excursion without my mum".

Through her comments, she characterized her mum as an "active elderly person" who was a member of a bushwalking organization.

"According to scant facts we have been provided, it looks that there was a breakdown of care and basic judgment," she stated.

She further stated that she hoped the inquiry would be able to identify what "the operator should have done that might have preserved Mother's being".

"According to reports from the authorities that it was a extremely warm period, and mum became unwell on the hill climb," she stated.

"Officials suggested her to head down, unescorted. Then the vessel sailed away, reportedly without conducting a passenger count.
