It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Finally, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
